Company History
NOVA WERKE AG was established in 1921 in Zurich. In a small workshop the employees polished cylinders and crankshafts. The modest beginnings bore fruit after several years. Pistons and piston rings for internal combustion engines soon carried the name NOVA WERKE AG far beyond Swiss borders.
In March 1970 NOVA WERKE AG moved to Effretikon, in canton Zurich. At that time the company diversified its activities into additional highly technical fields. The focus of this specialization became the business division High Pressure Technology – including components, systems and machines for high-pressure applications up to 10,000 bars (150,000 psi). Supplementary divisions were Engine Components, Surface Technology, and Valve Service. NOVA WERKE AG dubbed the services and processes of these prodct lines NOVA SWISS, and had this label registered as a brand name.
NOVA SWISS S.à.r.l. France was established as a subsidiary in 1979. Near Paris, about twenty employees develop and produce high-pressure components and systems. The subsidiary NOVA SWISS Deutschland GmbH Germany was also established in 1979 and also produces high-pressure equipment. The small team based in Dortmund markets NOVA SWISS products throughout Germany.
NOVA WERKE AG and its two subsidiaries are owned by MK Holding SA. The Group also holds Bieri Hydraulik AG and Ceramaret SA. All three companies held by MK Holding SA are ISO 9001 certified. They design and manufacture components, assemblies, systems, equipment and machines for applications in innovative industries. Flexibility, short lead times, efficient management and planning combined with dynamic team spirit and a highly qualified workforce are the hallmarks of MK Holding SA and its member companies.
Continual research and development, constant expansion of the product and service range, steady optimization of processes and materials, and qualified customer support make NOVA WERKE AG what it is today – a global market leader among the providers of technical products in a highly specialized industrial context. In Effretikon more than 100 highly trained professionals serve NOVA WERKE AG and its customers.
Worldwide demand is growing for products and services that require solid technical knowledge and advanced, specialized know-how in complex fields. Innovation in distinct niches and the reliability of standardized products and components form the basis of the commercial success of NOVA WERKE AG. Deliberate focus on customer requests and the special requirements of a clearly defined market promise long-term success.
