Hydrogen Components
Components for the highest demands

Safe hydrogen handling requires highest precision and quality. As a leading partner for high-pressure hydrogen components up to 1380 bar, we ensure safety and efficiency through selected materials, advanced coatings, and precise manufacturing.

Our Products

Needle Valves

Nova Swiss medium pressure needle valves for hydrogen offer, even with extremely hard operating conditions, maximum safety and reliability up to 20’000 psi (1’380 bar). All valves allow bidirectional flow.

Extremely robust and simple sealing technology combined with specially shaped seat and the two-piece non-rotating lower stem increases the longevity of the valve.

All pressure containing parts are manufactured of high-grade corrosion resistant stainless steel. As part of our stringent QA-system, each single valve body has a unique serial number. Valves are available, at request, with complete traceability of all pressure-retaining parts.

Medium-pressure connections can be installed and disconnected arbitrary number of times without any damage.

Valves with Pneumatic Actuator

Automation and Monitoring

High-pressure systems can be automated easily and effectively by using Nova Swiss valves with air-operated actuators. The valve bodies and packing systems are identical to those in the manual valves and provide the same benefits. The extremely robust and reliable air-operated piston actuator is available in two versions:

  • ATO (air-to-open), opens with compressed air.
  • ATC (air-to-close), closes with compressed air.

Valves for Extreme Temperatures

Nova Swiss extreme-temperature valves for high-pressure gas applications are designed to operate at temperatures ranging from -200°C to +300°C thanks to a special extension adapter.

Ball Valves

Our Nova Swiss H₂ ball valves are engineered specifically for hydrogen applications, offering robust performance at pressures up to 15’000 psi (1’034 bar). These 2-way manual valves are designed for medium-pressure systems and support bidirectional flow.

With coned & threaded (C+T) connections and compatibility for tube outer diameters from ¼" to 1", they provide safe and reliable isolation in hydrogen circuits. Precision manufacturing and high-quality materials ensure durability and leak-tight integrity in even the most demanding H₂ environments.

Check Valves

Safe and reliable, direction-dependent

Nova Swiss check valves ensure an ideal degree of leak-tightness for both gases and liquids thanks to the use of bonded metal/plastic seats. Our check valves are characterized by excellent flow rates and maximum reliability — both at low and high pressures. The replaceable seats allow simple and cost-efficient maintenance. Our high and low-pressure check valves are supplied complete with screw fittings.

Block Valves as Compact Version

Block Valves with Venting

NOVA SWISS block valves with venting (Block and Bleed — BBV) as well as double-block valves with venting (DBV) provide maximum safety in confined spaces.

Their design allows measuring instruments and/or pressure gauges to be disassembled in an unpressurized state during running operation. Additional features include a reduction of potential leakage points and the number of screw connections to a minimum. The BBV is available in 1/4" and 3/8" versions, the DBV in 1/4", 3/8" and 9/16".

Some of our block valves are also available in custom designs on request.

SP – Piloted Valves

  • The ultra-compact and extremely light Nova Swiss solenoid valve is designed for hydrogen and inert gases applications for an operating pressure of up to 1000 bar.
  • Your applications can now be realised even more cost-efficiently thanks to its minimal dimensions.
  • The piloted valve, manufactured from stainless steel, is monostable (normally open or normally closed) and unidirectional.
  • It features a flow coefficient KV = 0.6 m³/h.
  • If the current drops at the solenoid coil, the normally closed valve closes reliably and tightly (safety function).

SD – Direct Valves

  • The direct operated solenoid valve offers all the advantages of the pilot operated solenoid valve at operating pressures up to 1000 bar, but is even smaller and more compact. Here too, the focus is on cost efficiency and reliability.
  • The direct operated 2-way on/off valve is made of stainless steel and has a monostable design (normally open or normally closed). Its flow factor (KV) is 0.006 m³/h.
  • The direct operated normally closed solenoid valve also has a safety function. In case of a voltage drop, it closes automatically, reliably and tightly.

Fittings

Nova Swiss fittings ensure leak-free screw connections for tube components. They give you the security of using a simple yet reliable screw joint system. Our screw fittings can be installed and removed as often as required. Their faceted edges make handling easier and reduce the risk of injury. All fittings are supplied complete with screw connections.

Adapters and Couplings

Nova Swiss supplies a wide range of adapters, screw fittings and couplings, which are available in different connection sizes and make virtually any conceivable type of screw connection and interface possible.

High Pressure Screws in Vibro Tight – Excecution

Nova Swiss high-pressure couplings feature metallic seals and can be connected as often as required. In addition to the standard version, we offer our Vibro Tight coupling that is designed to withstand large vibrations.

High Pressure Tubes and Nipples

For leak-free transport of gases and liquids

Nova Swiss high-pressure pipes and nipples are made from stainless steel and either straightened or bent to custom angles and autofrettaged as required. They are seamless, cold drawn and hardened to ensure high strength and corrosion resistance. During the manufacturing process, the chemical composition and mechanical values of the material are tested and recorded in accordance with strict criteria.

Trendsetting Hydrogen Applications and Systems

Nova Swiss is proud to be a partner to a growing industry in the field of hydrogen mobility. As a member of Hydrogen Europe and Hydropole Switzerland, we contribute to the development of technologies that make the renewable fuel of the future safe, convenient and economical.
